Bichons

Bella & Riley were surrendered by a breeder. Both are around around 6-7 years old. Bella is a bit more outgoing, sweet and lovable. She wants to be on your lap and loves attention. She would be best in a quiet house with other easy-going dogs.

Romeo   Miniature Pincher

Romeo was picked up as a stray.  He was in the shelter for several weeks but no one wanted him.  You see Romeo has a birth defect.  He has a very small (almost not there) lower jaw.  He still eats fine.  He is a lover.  He is housetrained.  He is a spunky playful dog.  Because of his deformed jaw he does make a strange little sound when he gets adopted.  Romeo does not droll because of his jaw.   His adoption fee is $75

Pippa   Schipperke mix

Pippa turned up as a stray in an overcrowded shelter. She obviously belonged to someone and was so sad in the kennel.  It was obvious she missed her people. When no one came for her, the shelter asked us to take her into rescue. She is so much happier being in a foster home instead of a kennel! She is very well trained, housbroken, loves to be with you and wants to please. We are guessing she is aroun 6-7 years old and weighs about 14 pounds. She looks like a schipperke mixed with perhaps a terrier (??). She is in good health, like to play but is not hyper. More than anything, she rather just hang out and be with you. She is a fun loving little dog that absolutely loves everyone!!  She especially loves to sit on her Foster Dad’s lap.   She is a quiet dog and is housebroken.  She lets you know when she needs to go outside.  She gets along well with other animals but secretly adores the spotlight.  She does best in a household with older or no children.  She would make a fabulous companion  for someone looking for a low maintenance and loving pet.  She does need a fence, Schipperke’s like to run.  She is ultra-sweet!

She would be a great choice for someone who just wants one dog that is already trained and well-behaved. She is good on a leash so if you are committed to having her outside on a leash a fence is not needed.  NO TIE OUT.

 Rocky    Boxer

Rocky is a 4 year old dark brindle handsome dog.  He just came into our rescue.  He came from an over crowded shelter in KS.  He is housetrained. The shelter said he has never been around kids and is not good with small dogs.  He needs a home that will work with him on training his previous homes did not so he is a little active and does what he wants.

Rancey         Beagle

Rancy is a lemon colored beagle.  He is about 1.5 years old.  He came from an over crowded shelter.  He is great with other dogs.  He is about 32 pounds.  He has energy and would be a great family dog.  He can be a talker like most beagles.  He likes to be around people.  He is housetrained.  His adoption fee is $125.

Huck         Toy Fox Terrier

Huck is an adorable 5 month old (DOB 9/16/09) toy fox terrier. He came to us from a breeder going out of business.
Huck is an extremely intelligent young dog.  He needs and wants to have a job; therefore, an active home where he will be trained is the best situation for Huck.  Don't let his tiny (5 Lb) size fool you...this is a working dog in a tiny body.  He would make a phenomenal toy agility or obedience dog.  Huck knows sit, is learning down, is crate trained, housebroken and has been started on agility foundation training for puppies.  Being a cute little lap dog is not in Huck's future. He housebroke himself to an indoor potty area/liter box thing.  He is very smart.  He is not crazy about being picked up but loves to be around people.
He loves to play with toys and other dogs.  He also loves to snuggle on a warm lap.

Bella      Chihuahua mix

Bella is a super cool dog and so sweet.  She is all of about 7 pounds and just jumps an runs around and plays and wants to be around people and play with other dogs.  She is about 10 months old.  She will curl up in your lap.  She is doing good on housetraining.  Some accidents but for the most part goes outside  She is okay on a leash but would prefer to run and jump around.  She is in a kennel when her foster mom is gone.  She is still a puppy after all.  She is a skinny girl so we will not place her in a home with a lot of kids.  She could get hurt.

Bambina          Chihuahua

Bambina (Nina) came to us through our good rescue friends Hearts United for Animals. We think she is around 3-4 years old and weighs around 5-6 lbs. She has some really interesting markings- white with black and tan but also looks like merle markings. Bambina is a timid little girl because everything in her life now is new. She won't always be timid. She is learning new things every day and getting braver. She is very sweet and likes to be around people and other dogs. She would prefer a quiet house where she could be a lap dog and just hang out on the couch with you.

Girly Girl      Minpin mix

Girly Girl has a sad story.  Her and another got dropped off at a local shelter by people that gave no reason just did not want them.  They gave us the name of the other dog but said she had no name they just called and she came.  NO NAME.  She is two years old.  She seems to respond to Girl so that is where her name came from.  She did not do well at the shelter very scared and would not let anyone touch her.  After two weeks I could not help myself I had to bring into rescue to see if she was really a fearful nipping dog or a sweet girl.  She is a real sweet girl, just a doll.  She will cuddle with you all night.  She seems to be housetrained.  She plays with other dogs.  We are not 100% sure what she is mixed with she looks a lot like a Minpin.  She will need a home that will understand at first she will be very timid but in a few days shewill come around.

Misha       Cocker Spaniel

Misha came to us from a commercial breeding facility. Shortly after she arrived we found out she was pregnant.  She ended up needing a c-section and had two pups that will be available in a few weeks (watch for Miley and Mason).  She was a good mom but I think if she could speak she would say she is very thankful to not have to do it anymore.  She is a sweet girl but is timid.  She had to be shaved down completely because when we got her she was covered in lice, it has been treated and she is completely recovered but now we need to wait for her coat to come back in.  With a little time and good food she will be a pretty little lady.  She is looking for a home to live out the rest of her life as a pampered pooch.  She is around 8 years old

Guinness           Pekingese

Hi! My name is Guinness and I’m 4 year old Pekingese boy.  I was rescued by the Nebraska Humane Society (NHS) from a puppy mill in late February.  My right eye was removed when I came to the shelter because I was born with an eye defect.  My other eye is just fine so I don’t really miss having an eye since it didn’t work well anyway.  I didn’t like being in the kennels so I’ve been loved by foster parents in their homes instead.  Boy, did I luck out!  My MDRN foster home has 3 other small dogs and a cat.  I love being outdoors with them.  I’m learning to play with them and have discovered that toys can be fun!  (I really like the soft latex squeaky toys!) Sometimes the neighbor’s dogs come and play too and we all get along well.  Sometimes though, I get a little shy and prefer to just watch what’s going on.

Penny    Chihuahua

This little girl is ALL chihuahua.  She is extremely loyal to her family and doesn't like new people at first.  Once she accepts you though she is the sweetiest girl.  She is very playful and loves toys.  She is house trained and kennel trained.  She is ok with other dogs but she would like to be the only child.  She came into the rescue from a local shelter where she was picked up as a stray and was very pregnant.  She did have to have a c-section and had 3 female pups.  She was a great mom and the puppies will be up for adoption shortly.  So watch for Lizzie, Lily, and Lacey soon.  She also took two orphaned puppies that lost their mom and they will be up for adoption a little later as well (Louie and Leo).  So after taking care of all these little ones she is ready for a life as a pampered pet.  She is approximately 5 years old and 8.6 pounds.

 Max    Corgi

Max is a 2-year-old Tri-colored male Pembroke Welsh Corgi.  He is affectionate and loves attention.  He was just neutered, and we are working on housebreaking.  Max. likes to go for walks and car rides, loves to be brushed and petted. He is learning basic obedience commands like sit, down, stay and is very smart.  He gets along with dogs, cats and older children. He would be a good addition to a home that understands Corgis and their temperament.  He needs someone that has the knowledge and is willing to spend the time to give him exercise, discipline and affection (in that order).

   Seinna       Japanes Chin

Seinna is about 5-6 year old. She came to us from a breeder who shaved her but her hair will grown back nicely. She is a really pretty tricolor Japanese chin which is not very common. She has a really wonderful personality- very happy and loves everyone she meets! She is outgoing but not hyper. Loves to run and play int he backyard with the young girls in her foster home. She is also good with other animals. She is doing pretty good on housebreaking too. She is a great, fun little girl.

  Rupert       Pomeranian

This little guy has a personality plus.  He loves everyone but definitely loves "his" person.  Very attentive and loyal.  He came to us from a commercial breeding facility so he is doing well with house training but will still need a little work.  He loves to play and would make a wonderful addtion to about any family. He is around18 months old.

Patch              Toy Fox Terrier

Patch is a 3 year old Toy Fox Terrier from a breeder. He is an easy-going little guy (around 6 lbs) but can be a little shy in new situations. He is great with other dogs and loves to play with other dogs and cats. He is still learning to trust and adjusting to his new life but is doing great in his foster home. He'd be great for a quiet household that wants a smart, lovable companion. he bond very quickly and will do anything for his people.

 Franklin    Yorkie

Franklin is a sweet boy.  He came from a commerical breeder on May 29th so he has not been in a home for very long.  He learned how to use stairs in only 2 day.  He is mostly housetrained only has a few accidents but they are more him getting mad when people leave.   Franklin has turned into a people person.  He was a very timid boy and still is sometimes but since he have had him he is more outgoing and playful and likes touches and attention.  He sleeps through the night in bed with his foster mom. Now that he knows what attention and love is he wants more.  He loves being outside.  Franklin is 4 years old, he is about 5.5 pounds.  He had some really bad teeth so he had a dental and some had to be removed.   The breeder shaved him but his hair will come back just as pretty and silky as any yorkie.  You have to see the swan through the ugly duckling.

If you are interested in one of our dogs, either contact us with your questions or fill out an adoption form and e-mail it back to us.  We will then contact you.

Since we are NOT A SHELTER and all our dogs are in volunteer foster homes, we will put you in touch with the appropriate foster parent so you can find out more about the dog of interest and set up a visitation.

We do a home inspection before the adoption is final just to make sure the dog will be going to a safe and loving home.

All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. To help offset the medical care that they have received, a donation is requested at the time of adoption.
