Pebbles is a 5-6 month old Japenese Chin mix puppy. She is very sweet and loves to sit and be pet. She does have dominance issues with other dogs and if she can get away with it is very bossy.  Hello, My name is Buddy I am 2yrs old, A Husky Grey Hound mix and a neutered male. I need a home my last owners dumped me outside the Council Bluffs shelter and did not even bother to come in the building. I had been at the shelter for a month and no one looked at me. My time was running short so my new foster mom brought me home. She bathed me and I feel soooo much better and I look good too. I am good with kids infact excellent with kids. I have been with kids ages 2 to 12 and they pet and hug me and I just love it. I am also good with cats but I am not sure they like me sooo much. My foster mom is working on the potty training thing - she says I show all the signs it will take no time at all. I walk on a leash excellent I actually never even stop to potty I just love to walk or run. I would make a excellent companion to a runner or frequent walker. I heel well and try to sit but I just get sooo excited I can not control my rear end. My foster mom is working on it. I love to be brushed and rubbed. I need a yard as I like to run. I am also very smart and have figured how to open the fence so you will have to latch it tight. Size: Large

Jack's previous owner had to go into a nursing home and it was very difficult decision to put Jack into rescue. He is accustomed to being the only dog but is learning how to "share" in his foster home. Jack enjoys life and has ma ny more years of companionship to give! Size: Small

VAN GOGH Bichon Frise
Van Gogh was surrendered to a humane society after being used in a puppy mill. He was very scared and dirty, his coat matted and soaked with urine. He has come a long way but he will still need an understanding home with lots of patience. He is missing part of his left ear hence the name "Van Gogh". His foster mom say that he does better with men then women. He loves other dogs and would probably do better with a dog as a playmate to continue to show him the ropes about being a dog. BRIGGS Cairn Terrier ADOPTED APRIL 2007
 Briggs was surrendered to a local humane society because he kept getting out of the invisable fencing and they didn't want to deal with it anymore. He is very outgoing, good with other dogs and kids. He is approx. 3-4 years old, and is an extremely happy guy full of kisses and wiggles. Gender: Male 7/10/07 Briggs is doing just GREAT! He and Maya have become great friends and spend their days wrestling each other...I worry sometimes it gets a little rough, but neither of them "yelps" so I hear that means it's OK. I am attaching a photo of the two of them on my 4th of July invitation. Briggs did pretty well with the Fireworks, Maya did not. Briggs hung out with us most of the evening, until there were just too many fireworks in the sky, then he went over the edge with barking. We put them in the basement and turned on the radio, and they were fine. No issues with the electronic fence...he had a few 'getaways' initially, but none since then.  Eli is approximately 14 months old, and is a gentle giant. He was stray that a local humane society in Nebraska had found and no one came looking for him. He is learning about being a house dog and basic obedience. He is good with other dogs and kids.
Eli will be a big dog so he will need a home that can handle a 200 lb dog when full grown.

CHANG Pekingese, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Mix ADOPTED APRIL 2007
Chang is around 3 years old. He is neutered and house trained (he does have accidents if left alone for long hours). He is true lap dog! He wants to sit with you and be petted all the time. Chang also wants to sleep with you. He gets along with dogs around his size he does not care for bigger dogs. He was surrendered because he nipped at someone so we do not want him to go to a home with small children. He has also confined to the kitchen area of his last home for long hours and not socialized much. In the the time he has been in foster care he has become less possessive and less dominant. He does need a home that will work on his occasional possessive issues. He is good on leash, 100% better then when I picked him up from NHS. He likes to play with my little dog. They chase each other in the back yard. He likes to play with toys. He will fetch and sometimes bring back. He loves to sit in your lap and cuddle. He is getting better at his growling at my big dog, so over time his possessive issues can be delt with. His upset growl and his play growl sound the same so you just have to see him to get it. He is not a runner. He has been lose in the front yard and never left the yard and comes when he is called. He is fine being in the kennel when we are gone. He will need someone that can work with him on leash training. That is why we recommend Chang to to a home with a fenced in yard. Chang is very sweet. Sometimes it takes him a bit to warm up to new people but once he does, all he wants to do is hang out with them. He does not always need to be right next to them but likes to know where his people are. Chang sits up on his butt when he wants to get you attention had will sit like that for while until you tell him it is okay to come up. He also dances on his back legs when he his happy to see you or just wants attention. BUSTER Labrador,Beagle Mix ADOPTED APRIL 2007
 Buster is a approx. 48 pounds 8 1/2 month old Beagle mix. His mom is also on our site she is Ruby. Buster is neutered and current on shots. He is house trained. He can sit and wait. We have been working on controlled walking on his leash. He is getting better. He loves to play outside and loves to chase a ball. He loves to cuddle when he wants and when he's tired. Buster loves kids.

Ruby is a sweet beagle mix with Vizsla coloring. She is a very shy dog around people. She is great with other dogs. She would be a great playmate for another dog. Ruby has been in a foster home 6 months and is slowly becoming more outgoing. She has never growled or bite at anyone. When she gets scared (which is often) she just runs away or cowards down and becomes stiff. She is hourstrained, spayed and current on shots. She is not a dog for someone looking to play with. She plays with other dogs but not people. She is very sweet and cute as can be. She will walk on a leash but gets scared by some things.

 Ike is 3.5 lbs of energy! He is full of personality and spunk. He is approximately 10 weeks old. He will be a lot of dog in a small package. This is what the foster mom has to say about him: "He's been a champ! He follows my daughter around whenever he is let out of his kennel. He loves to play with her and the doggie toys! He really loves his chew ropes and tennis balls! He carries them around the house and some of them are just as big as he is - it's really cute! He really likes the toys that have little nubs on them. He's been really good about going pottie outside and we only have had one accident in the house (which is great for a puppy!). He's really good about obeying the "no-no" command too. He gets along great with my 2 other dogs and I think he wears them out after a while. He's a great little puppy and will be a wonderful addition to someone's home!" Marley is a 5-6 month old puppy that was surrenedered to a local humane society because his previous owner did not have time for him. He has a wonderful personality and is kennel broke. He is doing well with house breaking but you still need to watch him. He is a typical retriever and always has something in his mouth. He is good with other dogs and kids, but sometime he gets a little excited and will knock small childern down. He is all feet at this age. Ladybug is between 3-4 years old. She came from a commercial breeding facility before she was rescued. She is probably one of the sweetest dogs around. She is easy-going and so willing to please. She is good with other dogs and kids. She does have cataracts which limits her vision that we are hoping to get corrected with surgery soon. This sweet girl came from a large breeding kennel before the previous owner surrendered them to a local shelter. We estimate she's about 2 to 3 years old. She was very dirty and most of her hair had to be shaved. She has learned to use the doggie door to go potty and she sleep through the night. Here's what her foster mom has to say about her - "Ginger loves to be the first one in your lap, the first one to get your loving and always wants to keep you in sight. When I am reading in my chair, she is curled up on her pillow nearby. If I'm downstairs sewing, she finds a spot (usually within 12 inches of my feet) and lays nearby. When the other dogs are downstairs too, she will curl up with them and my daughter on the couch. She is truly a joy to be around - and she thinks the same thing of you! She loves to chew on her Kong when you have a good treat stuffed inside. She was the first one to figure out the doggie door on her first day all by herself. She's very smart and almost "understands" what you are trying to say to her. She will bring a lot of joy to her new "forever" family!" This pet is up to date with routine shots.

DIAMOND Bichon Frise ADOPTED MARCH 2007 This sweet girl came from a large breeding kennel before the previous owner surrendered them to a local shelter. We estimate she's about 2 to 3 years old. She was very dirty and most of her hair had to be shaved. She didn't mind however because she gets to wear pretty pink outfits and fleece coats that her foster mom makes for her! She has learned to use the doggie door to go potty and she sleep through the night. Here's what her foster mom has to say about her - "Diamond has a heart of a puppy! Give her a Kong, or ball or chew rope and watch her go! She LOVES the outside and doesn't seem to even notice that it's cold outside and she loves to play in the snow. She thinks of herself as the "watchdog" of the family and if she hears anything outside, she will give us an "alert bark" and run out the doggie door to check it out! She will then advise the "intruder" that this is her house and they better not come any closer! She's very sweet and loving but needs to get to know you before she will trust you."  This handsome young guy came from a large breeding kennel before the previous owner finally released him to a local shelter. When Scruffy arrived, he was so dirty and matted he had to be shaved. Scruffy is only between 1-2 years and loves to play with the other dogs. He's a bit shy at first with new people but seems to like men. He would be good with other dogs and older kids.

BANDIT Beagle ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2007
 Bandit is from a large breeding facility were life was not so good. He is only around 6 months and is a "blue" beagle meaning he has a greyish blue instead of black markings - very pretty! He is quickly learning how to play and go outside to potty. Bandit gets along with kids, cats, and other dogs. He would be great for a family. Here's what his foster mom says about him - " He's a puppy, so all the chewing/hyper stuff should go away. He just needs to play an hour a day, and then he crashes and is snuggly :) " Size: Medium

Gender: Female JAKE Golden Retriever One of our first successful adoptions!
 Once we got home Patty was there to greet Jake. She absolutely adores him! Then?we introduced Jonathan and Jake. It was like Jonathan knew this little guy was coming to stay. They rough housed for a little bit, Jake was pretty timid, understandable obviously, and Jonathan let Jake know that he wasn't moving down in the pecking order. Well, it didn't take Jake very long to warm up and give Jonathan a run for his money. They have played all afternoon and evening. They have each found their best buddy. There is lots of kissing between these two pups. Jake is a character. He likes to hoard the toys. He takes one toy and then goes after the toy Jonathan has and keeps both in front of him.
PEEKABOO One of our first cases!
Greetings from the Northeast! Everything here is going well - Fergi (Peekaboo) is doing great - she is the most precious thing I've ever laid my eyes on - I'm in love. I thank God every day that you guys were there to save her.
She is getting real good about being picked up - and she sleeps with me every night - she really is quite a character.
